Sometimes tooth is quite badly and deeply broken, so root canal may not be possible, in such case extraction of the tooth would be required to relieve the symptoms.
This is also called as root canal therapy or endodontic treatment.
We are fortunate to have a dentist with a special interest in the endodontics (Root canal treatment) at the practice: Dr Nipa Bhatt. Her focus is on providing the best care possible to all her patients.

Tooth has two parts:
Crown: This is the part of the tooth visible in the mouth.
Root: This is the part of the tooth which is inside the jaw bone.
In the central part of the root there is a canal which carry the nerve and blood vessels, when these get infected patient gets symptoms of severe pain, swelling, pain on chewing and sleep disturbance. Dentist then performs root canal treatment which involves removal of these infected tissues and infecting bacteria from the canal system to save the tooth. The hollow space of canal system left behind is then obturated with special material called: Gutta Percha.
